Artifacts Roadshow and Military Booksale

Would you like to learn more about your family’s military-related items? Have you discovered a potential treasure in your home?

Now is the time to bring those items in for a free expert review at the Virginia War Memorial’s Annual Artifacts Roadshow.

After a long suspension, this beloved event is back and in-person.

Our Curator Jesse Smith, military weapons expert Robert House, and photo and document expert Warren Shindle will be on site to personally review and offer insights on military items from any era – from the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, World Wars I and II to today. While Smith, House and Shindle will be pleased to tell the story about each item reviewed and give preservation tips, no appraisals or monetary evaluations can be given.

That day, the Memorial will also be hosting the Annual Book Sale. We will have a selection of hundreds of slightly used military and history books, DVDs, VHS tapes and more for sale in the Galanti Education Center from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. All proceeds from the sale support the Virginia War Memorial Foundation which funds the educational programs and exhibits at the Memorial.

Admission to both events is free. Donations to the non-profit Virginia War Memorial Foundation are appreciated.
